Measure O was a subject close to Supervisor Postmus’ heart. For years, local governments seized private property and a US Supreme Court decision (Kelo vs Norwalk ) ruled in favor of expansive eminent domain practices.

Bill authored an initiative to restrict public agency’s ability to engage in such procedures. Upon approval by his county’s voters, Measure O prohibits the county from using eminent domain to acquire property for the purpose of transferring it to another private entity.

Hi is grateful that his philosophy on limiting eminent domain was shared by voters countywide as they approved the measure.
